Executive Committee Member
Director

Paula Shaw

Paula joined WILPF in 2010 inspired by her Great Aunt Mercha who was a member of WILPF between the 1950s and the 1960s in the Liverpool Branch and was a delegate to the Peace Conference in 1963 in Moscow. In 2013, inspired by another long-time member, Sheila Triggs, she agreed to become more active and lend a hand in the management of WILPF UK. She has been WILPF UK’s Secretary from 2018 to 2021.

She held several offices in WILPF including Treasurer (2016-2019), London Branch Chair (2016-2018), WILPF Representative at the Peace Forum, No Trident Renewal (NTR) Group and International Campaign to Abolish Nuclear Weapons (ICAN), and became WILPF UK’s Secretary in 2018 following the sad loss of Anne Scott. She was joint Secretary from 2021 and back to full Secretary from 2022-24.

She enjoys most campaigning for the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons, marching in several demonstrations, and working with enthusiastic young members.

Join the WILPF UK Executive Committee

If you have been a member of WILPF for more than six months and would like to be more involved, you could become a member of our Executive Committee. Members can be nominated for election or co-opted onto the Committee throughout the year if there are vacancies.

Members of the Executive Committee are expected to contribute throughout the year and attend Executive meetings. Matters which will not wait until the next meeting are dealt with by email discussion, and Executive Committee members are expected to respond.

Meetings are currently held on Zoom, and any member who is interested can join any meeting, whether or not they are a member of the Executive Committee. Try it and see if it is for you!

If you would like to know more about the Executive Committee or attend a meeting, please get in touch with the Secretary at ukwilpf.peace@gmail.com.
