Save the date for our next webinar! Tuesday 29 September at 7:00-8:30pm (BST) WILPF has always been an International organisation, with activists and sections spanning across continents. The issues we work on – militarism, conflict, climate change, human rights – are also global in scope and scale. Now, more than ever, the world needs approaches rooted in collective human security. WILPF also hosted congress this July where delegates from across the world came together to update the International Programme of work, elect a new International Board and vote on resolutions.
In this webinar we will be joined by Desirée Sterner, who will share insight into the workings of WILPF at an international level and the need for global feminist solidarity in our pursuit for peace. We invite all members, students, activists and people interested to come along and find out more.
Desirée was elected Vice President of the International Board of WILPF this summer, and currently serves as President of the Swedish Section (IKFF), a role she has held since 2023. Her engagement with WILPF began at the grassroots level through the local branch in Lund/Malmö during her university years. Desirée brings a deep substantive understanding of WILPF’s core issues, rooted in academic training in gender, peace and security (LSE), war studies (Swedish Defence University), peace and conflict studies, and human rights (Lund University), combined with several years of practical advocacy, movement-building and organisational leadership work in Swedish civil society.
