SUMMARY:WILPF Women against War and Weapons march to Stop The Arms Fair
DESCRIPTION:WILPF members\, and friends\, will be walking from Stratford Stations to the Excel Centre on Wednesday 3 September\, distributing leaflets and talking to the residents and visitors of Newham to alert them to the presence of this horrendous event in their community.  We will meet at Stratford at 11.00am and walk down through Newham\, passing a number of tube and DLR stations\, so you can join us part way through if you wish.  We aim to get to the Excel Centre by 2.00pm where we will lobby those organisations bringing their lethal products to the conference.  Later we will join the Women in Black at the Edith Cavell Monument in Trafalgar Square for their regular 6.00-7.00 vigil and place a wreath at the monument.

SUMMARY:WILPF UK Webinar: Reclaiming the women\, peace and security agenda’
DESCRIPTION:The Women’s International League for Peace and Freedom UK (WILPF UK) invite you\, your colleagues\, members and networks to join our next webinar to hear from guest speaker Dr Sophia Close\, Gender\, peace and security consultant and WILPF UK Company Secretary\, to learn about and discuss how we can use our feminist lens to reclaim the women\, peace and security agenda. \nDr Sophia Close will lead this webinar presentation and discussion based around her recently co-authored report with the European Institute of Peace ‘Status Quo or Bold Adaptation? Reclaiming the Women\, Peace and Security Agenda’. The report calls for a critical rethinking of the core principles behind the women\, peace and security (WPS) agenda to ensure its continued relevance and effectiveness in the rapidly shifting global context. As the political space for gender equality narrows and WPS commitments are increasingly eroding\, the agenda’s vision and practices must be adjusted to respond to contemporary and future challenges in conflict prevention\, resolution and peace-building. Far from being a lost cause\, the women\, peace and security agenda must be revitalised to address rising militarisation and securitisation\, reaffirming its purpose as a transformative framework for inclusive and sustainable peace. \nZoom link: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/84765215209 \nNo password required \n
