Climate, Conflict and the search for Peace – Lecture by Tamara Lorincz

In June WILPF UK had the opportunity to meet Tamara Lorencz a very well-informed WILPF activist from Canada. She was on her way to an International Peace Conference on Ukraine in Vienna.  She presented a very informative hybrid talk on Climate, Conflict and Peace from our London office.If you wish to find out more and access her slides, do get in touch.

Tamara Lorincz is a PhD candidate in Global Governance at the Balsillie School of International Affairs at Wilfrid Laurier University. She has a Masters in International Politics & Security studies from the University of Bradford and a Law Degree and MBA from Dalhousie University.

She is a member of the Women’s International League for Peace and Freedom / Canada Section of the Canadian Voice of Women for Peace. Tamara attended the UN COP 26 in Glasgow in 2021 and COP 27 in Egypt in 2022.   Subsequently she did a month-long tour in Egypt, Russia, Finland, Latvia, Poland and Romania. During her trip that she titled “Climate, Conflict and the Search for Peace”, she met with activists and academics in every country and with Ukrainian refugees in Poland. She was invited to speak at Moscow State Institute of International Relations (MGIMO) and at a public event in Helsinki. Her tour was motivated by citizen diplomacy, strategic empathy and peace building.
